Why does my coffee does not have a great crema?
There are several possibilities that may cause a lack of crema. It could be the beans themselves, or the grind setting. Here are some recommendations to improve your crema result.
Change your coffee beans to fresh one
Check the roast date on your beans. Fresh coffee beans are important for a great crema. Fresh beans are rich in CO2. Over time, the CO2 can escape; without that gas, there is nothing to create the bubbles required for crema.
Adjust your grind size
You should also check your grind size and adjust if necessary. If your grind is too coarse, the water will rush through the puck with no resistance. If your grind is too fine, the coffee grounds will be packed so tightly that the water cannot pass through the puck.
