Recycling

Our commitment to recycling

We take our environmental responsibilities very seriously and are dedicated to recycling and refurbishing old appliances. It’s just one of our ways of trying to help take care of our environment as many electrical items can be repaired or recycled saving natural resources.

We will ensure that your product is treated and recycled in accordance with the WEEE regulations. Appliances that are not recycled could end up in landfill where hazardous substances can cause soil and water contamination.

Our collection & recycling services

Collection and Recycling: When you purchase an appliance with us you will be able to add these services as part of your order where we will then collect and recycle your old appliance. Please make sure your old appliance is disconnected and ready to be collected.

Free Recycling in Store: When you purchase your new appliance directly from us you can also return your old appliance to us at one of our outlet stores where we will recycle it for you. We’ll also help you to recycle your small electronic equipment, up to a maximum size of 25cm in length on the equipment's longest edge.

Our stores addresses are:

  • Morley Way, Peterborough PE2 9JB

  • Follingsby Park, Gateshead, NE10 8YF

  • Station Road Yate, Bristol, BS37 5HR

Alternatively, you can recycle your electricals at a local recycling centre see the link below for more locations.

We ensure the electrical products we collect, or that are returned to us, are recycled responsibly. More information about recycling can be found at repic.co.uk website.

WEEE Regulations

The Crossed out Wheeled Bin Sign

Electrical equipment that can be recycled is marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. To help reduce unwanted electrical waste, never throw any electrical equipment, including those marked with the crossed out wheeled bin symbol, in your bin.

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires EU Member States to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of WEEE. In the UK, distributors (including retailers) are required to provide a system which allows all customers buying new electrical equipment the opportunity to recycle their old items free of charge.

As a responsible retailer, met the requirements placed on us by financially supporting the national network of WEEE recycling centres established by local authorities.

Find out more about WEEE recycling.

We have a responsibility both as a retailer and a producer. As a responsible producer we work with a Producer Compliance Scheme (REPIC) and finance the collection and treatment of WEEE when it is disposed of by consumers at waste collection or civic amenity sites.
