Frequently asked questions
How do the beans I use impact getting the best results from my espresso machine?
Unlike drip coffee, where beans stay in their prime condition for a month, espresso relies on carbon dioxide (CO2) trapped inside the bean to create crema. It is recommended to get a roast specifically designed for espresso, or an omni roast for the best result. Other than that, here are some tips to find the ideal coffee beans around your corner.
- - Look for a "Roasted On" date. Beans are best for espresso between 7 and 21 days after roasting.
- - If they were roasted yesterday, they’ll have too much gas, leading to a bubbly, inconsistent extraction.
- - If they’re more than a month old, the CO2 has escaped. Your shots will run fast, look watery, and taste flat.
