How long should I knead and at what speed?

If you use a KitchenAid mixer, you'll find that kneading is much faster than doing it by hand, and much easier on the arms. Here's our advice...

Our mixers' planetary action means much faster mixing and kneading action than by hand or with mixers made by other manufacturers. Because of this, the kneading time can be significantly reduced in most bread recipes, so you get delicious homemade bread even quicker!

KitchenAid recommends adapting your favorite recipes to the speeds and times recommended in your Owner's Manual for best results.

A guide to kneading times

  • Kneading with a KitchenAid mixer for 2 minutes is equivalent to kneading 10-12 minutes by hand.
