Is the mixing bowl nickel-free?

Are you wondering whether the stainless steel mixing bowls from KitchenAid contain nickel? Find details of our metal bowls and others here...

The KitchenAid stainless steel mixing bowls contain nickel.

Steel is an alloy (mixture) of mostly iron. It's much stronger than plain iron, but it can rust and corrode. In order to make it resistant to rust and corrosion, it is combined with many elements to form 'stainless steel'. Most food-grade stainless steel contains nickel. Nickel makes stainless steel stronger and improves its resistance to oxidization and corrosion, particularly in the presence of acidic materials. It also adds a ‘silver-like’ shine to the metal. Stainless steel used in our bowls is of type in the (AISI) 200 series.
