Coffee grounds are spreading over my counter, what should I do?

Over time, the integrated burr grinder in your espresso machine will become filled or blocked and the grounds may start spilling out of the machine. Check out the troubleshooting tip below:

Cause Solution
The machine has a built-in ion generator that helps to reduce static when grinding coffee beans. If that becomes covered or blocked then it could cause the grounds to spray. Take out the removable bean hopper and twist the bottom lock to empty all the beans into another container. Replace the hopper and press Grind ‘start’ to run it empty. Remove the bean hopper again and then rotate and lift out the top burr with its wire handle. Use the cleaning brush to clear the top burr, and reach in to clear the bottom burr with the brush (or a vacuum cleaner). Clear any grounds from the chute by using the wire side of the cleaning brush, from underneath and from above. This should mean any coffee residue is removed. The bean hopper and its lid can be cleaned with warm, soapy water, rinsed and dried. Align the top burr back in place and twist it clockwise to secure. NOTE: Make sure water does not come into contact with the burr grinder system.
