Your guide to grinding: parts explained
Depending on what you’re making, fit the appropriate part and then run the metal food grinder at stand mixer speed 4. Top tip for grinding meats: a cold temperature is important to avoid sticking. You can pre-chill the metal food grinder in the fridge or freezer to maintain a cold temperature and deliver a clean grind.
Coarse grinding plate (8 mm)
Select the coarse plate when grinding raw meats for burgers and chili, and vegetables for salsas and sauces.
Medium grinding plate (4.5 mm)
The medium plate is the best for grinding raw or cooked meats, and when preparing meats for sausages.
Fine grinding plate (3 mm)
Use the fine plate for grinding cooked meats for spreads, hard cheeses, or making breadcrumbs.
Large sausage stuffer (19 mm)
Choose the coarse grinding plate with the large stuffer tube to make bratwurst, and larger sausages.
Small sausage stuffer (9.5 mm)
Choose the coarse grinding plate with small stuffer tube to make breakfast sausages, or smaller sausages.
