How to plug in your attachment

Remove the hub knob

Turn the mixer OFF (0) and remove the bowl. On a tilt-head mixer, unscrew the hub cover to remove it. On a bowl-lift mixer, flip up the hub cover to open it.

Insert your attachment

Insert the attachment into the hub, making sure the power shaft fits into the square socket. You may have to rotate it back and forth slightly. The pin fits into the notch when in the proper position.

Tighten the hub knob

Tighten up the attachment hub knob until the mixer is completely secured to the mixer. It’s now ready to start!

Your guide to grinding: parts explained

Depending on what you’re making, fit the appropriate part and then run the metal food grinder at stand mixer speed 4. Top tip for grinding meats: a cold temperature is important to avoid sticking. You can pre-chill the metal food grinder in the fridge or freezer to maintain a cold temperature and deliver a clean grind.

Coarse grinding plate (8 mm)

Select the coarse plate when grinding raw meats for burgers and chili, and vegetables for salsas and sauces.

Medium grinding plate (4.5 mm)

The medium plate is the best for grinding raw or cooked meats, and when preparing meats for sausages.

Fine grinding plate (3 mm)

Use the fine plate for grinding cooked meats for spreads, hard cheeses, or making breadcrumbs.

Large sausage stuffer (19 mm)

Choose the coarse grinding plate with the large stuffer tube to make bratwurst, and larger sausages.

How to clean your metal food grinder

Keep making food from scratch at home by taking good care of your food grinder. Turn off the stand mixer and then remove the attachment before following the cleaning steps below.

Disassemble the grinder

Take it apart by unscrewing the collar, removing the grinding disc, the blade and the grind screw.

Hand wash some parts

Use the included cleaning brush to wash the main grinder, blade, grind screw and discs by hand in warm, soapy water.

Dishwasher-safe parts

The sausage stuffer plate, sausage stuffer tubes, cleaning brush, food pusher, collar and removable tray can all go in the dishwasher (top-rack only).

Note

Allow the appliance to cool completely before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning.
